OBJECTIVES
- Existing dining/living space awkward and closed in, needed more space for dining
- Kitchen needed updating and brightening up
- Master bath small, awkward and non-functional, future accessibility concerns
needed addressing
SOLUTIONS
Removed wall between dining/living to open up space. Replaced dark wood flooring
with ceramic tile and created new division between two areas with accent tile border
made from local Lake Superior Stones. Space can now be borrowed from living area
for larger dining needs. Replaced blue laminate counters with neutral acrylic tops
and changed burgundy paint color to neutral, thus lightening up the space.
Re-located toilet, tub and shower, which opened up the floor plan as well as solved
accessibility concerns. Removed one wall of existing shower and linen closet in order
create large walk-in custom shower with bench. To solve storage needs, placed a linen
cabinet next to vanity cabinet all out of oak, topped with a neutral acrylic counter
and integral sink. Existing tile was slippery, so replaced with the same textured
floor tile and accent stones border as in main area of house to create cohesiveness
throughout.
