OBJECTIVES
- Convert existing two car garage into a family/game room for summer cottage
- Needed access from two areas of house, view of woods, lake and natural light
- Incorporate desk, wet bar, storage, television, seating area, stove, game and
foosball tables
- Rustic and traditional styles, using burgundy, green and brown to coordinate
with existing house
- All new furniture
SOLUTIONS
Incorporated windows to capture views and light. Used full-light glass doors to
borrow light from other two areas of house connect to. The seating area is on one
side of the room and the game area is on the other, both with views to the outdoors,
television and stove. The wet bar and storage covers one wall between two doorways
and the desk area is carved out of one corner near mud room. Both areas consist of
natural hickory cabinets, topped with multi-colored patterned laminate counters.
Recessed lighting on dimmers are placed over specific task areas, along with ceiling
fan and light for ambient and floor outlets for portable lamps. Upholstery fabrics
of burgundy, green and neutrals along with warm wood tones create connectivity to
the rest of the house.
